HYDROGEN

h2cartoon.jpgAbout me:

Hey my name is hydrogen and I was discovered in 1766 by a man named Henry Cavendish. I am the most abundant element in the entire universe. I am highly flammable and have an almost invisible flame, which can lead to accidental burns. I am the most simple element of all. With a atomic weight of 1.00794, I am the lightest element and also by far the most common element in the entire Universe. In the Universe over 90 percent of the atoms are hydrogen. I am composed of a single proton and a single electron. You can use me in balloons and metal refining. I about 10 percent of the weight of living organisms, mainly being water, proteins, and fats. I also have a form of liquid Hydrogen and it has the lowest density of any liquid. Liquid hydrogen is used for so many things, such as Rocket Fuel and powering the space shuttle's lift off and ascent into the orbit. I am also part of the Big Bang because it is believed that I am one of three elements produced in the Big Bang along with Helium and Lithium. Most of our energy on Earth is because of Hydrogen. The Sun's nuclear fires convert hydrogen to helium releasing a large amount of energy. Also I can form both positive and negative ions. I do this more readily than any other element. You can find me in mines, oil, and gas wells. I am the most abundant element in the universe. I’m colorless, odorless, combustible gas. I’m a mixture of two molecular forms, ortho- and para-hydrogen, which differ by the spins of their electrons and nuclei. I consist of 25% of the para form and 75% of the ortho form. When I bond with oxygen, chlorine and fluorine the reaction is explosive. Also another interesting fact is that Hydrogen is the raw fuel that most stars burn to produce energy. The same process is known as fusion and is being studied as a possible power source for use on earth.

Daily Blog:

Monday: I have to go fill up some balloons for Andrew Eisner birthday party!.

Tuesday: So today I walked into a bar with oxygen, hydrogen, sulfur, sodium, and phosphorous and the bartender said, " OH SNap"

Wednesday:I hung with Fluorine and Nitrogen today and did some great bonding.

Thursday: I have a date with two oxygen's and whats my luck its suppose to start raining.

Friday: I think I'm alone right now. Oh wait I am because i only have one Proton and one Electron

Saturday: I love relaxing, I'm always calm, especially in the Caribbeans. The Water never moves.

Sunday:There was a volcanic Eruption in Hawaii this morning, it was scary to be part of that.

Friends:
Some of my good friends are Fluorine, oxygen, nitrogen and carbon. Those are the only friends that I bond with.

I decided to join with Oxygen and try to make a cool experiment!
